Team Chemistry Wins Science Exhibition

It was an exciting time indeed, with lots of learning at the just concluded Science Exhibition organized by the Faculty of Physical Sciences. Four teams from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, chemistry and Geography took part in the event.

The event which was held at the Banquet Hall, Basement saw the Department of Chemistry emerging the winner with the Department of Physics in second, followed by Geography with Mathematics at the fourth place.

The Science exhibition provided a platform for the students of the faculty to showcase and share their ideas, skills and talents. Also, it was a means to show to the world at large, that Uniben students have all the potentials within them to come up with great ideas and solutions that will solve many of the challenges been faced by the world today.

The Chemistry Team came up with ideas on how to turn waste aluminum products into very useful and safe Alum using very simple but economically feasible technique. An idea that can turn wastes into potential source of wealth and employment for many.

The Physics team came up with a very useful device that can detect radio signals and then, made a shield (Jammer) that can block radio signals within an enclosed area or region.

The Team from the Department of Geography proffered various solutions on how to deal with the problem of gully erosion been faced in many places today, with focus on the gully erosion occurring at Ekosodin, near the school.

The mathematics team took mathematics to a new level, as they peered into a possible future without HIV AIDS using the technique of mathematical modelling and giving to the public how this can be achieved.

Present at the event was the Dean of the faculty and a host of other top staff and lecturers as well as dignitaries from various sectors.

The Faculty of Physical Sciences’ science exhibition is an annual event that holds every second semester of the session.
