In an exclusive interview with eUniben, the President, Student Union Government, Hon. Ogbidi Osemudiamen Elvis, spoke concerning the ongoing ASUU strike.
In his statement, the S.U.G President urged Uniben students to be optimistic while giving them a reminder, that the Strike is indefinite. By this, the Industrial Action embarked upon by the Union will not be called-off till its demands are met by the government.
He also advised the federal Government to quickly look into demands being made by the Union, these demand which affects the welfare of the Nigerian Student.
He expressed his displeasure at the government’s imposition of the Treasury Single Account on Universities as well as its directive to schools to increase the Tuition Fees.
He expressed his support for the Academic Union, in as much as they continue to fight for the interest of the Nigerian Student, Lecturer, Academic and Non- academic Staff.
The President went ahead to advise Students to take advantage of the strike while it lasted and use the time to develop and empower themselves.
He assured Uniben students that, while they are at home as a result of the strike action, the S.U.G officials will always be on ground (campus) to protect their welfare.
